Custom Juniper Shapes and Colors for Blue Bottle

We were thrilled to collaborate with wrk-shp on an exploration of color for Blue Bottle Coffee at Shenzhen Bay MixC. The project offered an opportunity to adapt our furniture for a hospitality setting while responding thoughtfully to the surrounding environment.

wrk-shp and Blue Bottle drew inspiration from the natural landscape of Shenzhen, referencing the mangroves along the bay and the muted, earthy tones of the rocks and pebbles that line the shoreline. This context informed a series of custom Juniper Chairs, Counter Stools, and Benches, finished in layered shades of green. The result introduces moments of color within an otherwise restrained interior palette, grounding the space in its coastal setting.

Each piece evolved from our original Juniper Chair, reimagined with a solid wood seat to meet the durability and longevity required in a café environment. The custom benches were designed to preserve the Juniper’s defining details - its proportions, joinery, and quiet strength - while adapting the form to fit the scale and flow of the space.
