FAQs

Do all your pieces use solid wood?
Yes, all our wooden and bamboo products are made from solid hardwood or bamboo. We do not make furniture using veneer, MDF, or particleboard.

Are there really no nails and screws in your products?
Our studio uses joinery to construct our solid wood furniture. This involves designing interlocking pieces of wood that fit together to create the structure of a piece. As a result, our pieces come fully assembled and are made without the use of nails or screws.

There are, however, a few exceptions:

• Beds are not shipped fully assembled to ensure they will fit through doorways, hallways, and up stairwells. Assembly is required and is done using simple hardware. Your bed can be easily disassembled and moved to another space should the need arise.
• Similar to beds, dining tables and some coffee tables are shipped with the table top and legs in separate cartons for ease of moving through doorways, hallways, elevators, and up stairwells. Assembly is done using simple hardware. Table tops also contain reinforcing hardware to ensure your solid wood table does not crack, warp, or split.
• Pieces with doors and drawers contain hardware. The hardware is used, for example, to enable soft close doors and drawers.
• Upholstered products contain hardware.

Where can I see the furniture in person?
Visit us at our Brooklyn, New York gallery or San Jose, California warehouse to experience our work in person. Both locations are open by appointment

If you are unable to make it in person, appointments can be done virtually. To do so, make a note requesting a virtual visit when booking your appointment. We will send you a video link ahead of time. During the appointment, we’ll walk you through the space and show you any pieces you are interested in.

Are all your pieces on display in Brooklyn and San Jose?
A rotating selection of our pieces are available. If there is something in particular you would like to see please contact us at hello@sunatsix.com to check if it’s currently on display.

Where do you make your products?
Our products are proudly made in our family’s hometown of Guangzhou, China. Our workshop is wholly owned and operated and each step of the process from kiln drying raw timber to the final packaging happens in house. We do not contract out to third party manufacturers. We are ISO 14001 and 9001 certified for quality and environmental standards, and SA8000 certified for social responsbility.

Will I have to pay tariffs on my order?
No. Our products are shipped from our California warehouse so no tariffs will apply to your order.

Do your products come with a warranty?
Yes. We offer a three year residential warranty and one year commercial warranty. To view the full warranty, click here.

Can you send me a sample of the wood, fabric, or leather I’m interested in?
Yes. Swatches are available and can be ordered here. Each product page notes the material used in the description. If you aren’t sure which swatch material to order (e.g. white ash or white oak), email us at hello@sunatsix.com for assistance.

Are your products contract grade?
Our products are designed for commercial use and have been used in restaurants, hotels, and offices.

Contract grade for leather may vary by customer. Our full grain, vegetable tanned leather will meet or exceed durability requirements compared to fabric, but if stain resistance is a requirement it will not meet that condition as the leather is intended to patina with use. We offer durable, stain resistant leathers in similar colors that can be custom ordered. View the selection here.

Our fabrics are all contract grade with Martindale abrasion test results between 80,000 to 100,000.

For extremely high traffic use cases, we offer an upgraded finish that features higher scratch resistance. Please note that regardless of your finish choice, care should always be taken with solid wood table tops to prevent water damage, stains, and burns.

What mattress height do you recommend to pair with your beds?
Our beds are photographed with a 10” tall mattress. However, mattresses of any height can be used and it ultimately depends on the look you wish to achieve. Our beds generally feature lower height headboards; a taller mattress will cover more of the headboard visually and will reduce the space available to use as a backrest when sitting up in bed.

Do I need a bunkie board for my bed?
Our bed slat system consists of steel slats spaced several inches apart and is designed to support innerspring mattresses. Specialty mattresses such as memory foam and pocket coil may require additional support such as a bunkie board. Please reach out to your mattress manufacturer to confirm whether a bunkie board is recommended.

How much is shipping?
Shipping is complimentary for full price orders. White glove delivery is included for large and assembly-required pieces. They will be delivered to your front door or the lobby of an apartment building. Each product page description contains the shipping method. Can’t find it? Email us at hello@sunatsix.com

How long does shipping take?
Items shipped via white glove or threshold delivery take 1-5 business days for the carrier to pick up from our California warehouse and 1-4 weeks for delivery depending on your location. Parcel shipping (e.g. FedEx) generally picks up next business day and will arrive in 3-7 days. If you need your order delivered by a specific date, please contact us so we may assist.

How do I remove water stains or white rings from my furniture?
While we highly recommend that coasters and placemats be used, we understand that life happens and so do white rings. White rings may be able to be removed by using a "white ring remover" available at hardware stores or online retailers. We highly recommend testing on either the underside of your table or a finish swatch to ensure no adverse effects. For minor stains, consider using a touch-up marker.

How do I touch up the finish?
Consider using furniture specific touch-up markers. Test on the underside of your product or a finish swatch to ensure no adverse effects and a good color and sheen match.

Can I refinish my wooden and bamboo products?
Absolutely. They are made from solid wood or bamboo and can be sanded down, refinished, and even stained a different color. This is a great way to refresh a well worn table top. Please note that refinishing the piece will make it ineligible for any warranty claims.
