Part of the Sun at Six 5th anniversary special collection, celebrating their history and the first Ming dynasty era pieces that Antares’s mom worked on over 30 years ago when she learned furniture.
The Cloud Coffee Table is one of 3 types of kang table, a feature of a Northern Chinese housing style with its own unique set of furniture.
The table features embellished apron head spandrels around the legs, and the tabletop includes a frame (two long edges with tenons, and 2 short edges with mortises) and “floating” panel, which floats freely in the 4 edges, allowing the panel to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity.
The frame also includes recessed slots allowing for mortise and tenon connection of the apron and legs as well, which is tightened tightened by the weight of the table against the leg joints.
